Somerset Aviation’s Director, Lindsay Walsh, has been involved in aviation most of his adult life. From a PPL in the 70’s, then CPL in the late 80’s, followed by many hours in Chieftain, Navajo and Baron aircraft conducting charter flying out of Canberra.
During the same period, Lindsay was also involved in teaching IFR theory, a business opportunity born out of necessity as the subject was not offered in Canberra at the time. After returning to his home state (QLD) in early 2000, Lindsay continued teaching IFR theory as the demand grew with his reputation. Somerset Aviation was formed as a business entity in 2010.
In 2011, Lindsay completed a Kingair conversion and flew corporate work out of Brisbane as a contract pilot.
In 2013, he attended the Civil Aviation Academy in Singapore and completed the ICAO basic and advanced Instrument Procedure design course. This involved designing conventional procedures such as NDB & VOR and also RNAV and RNP procedures.
Returning to Australia, Lindsay worked in the design industry for three years before returning to the training and also consulting business.
